Build the result around preparation
A coating is the finishing treatment, not a shortcut around surface preparation. Before selecting a package, consider whether you want a clean and protected daily driver or a more refined finish with correction work. Those goals can involve different preparation time and should be reflected in the quote.
Review the vehicle under suitable lighting and identify the marks that matter to you. Ask which defects can be improved safely and which may remain. This keeps expectations focused on the condition of your paint rather than the name of a coating package.
A useful addition to your care routine
Choose coating with maintenance in mind. Easier cleaning is valuable only when the vehicle is still cleaned regularly. Discuss parking conditions, washing methods and the surfaces included in your package. If impact protection is the priority, compare PPF as a separate part of the plan.
Choose a finish you can maintain confidently
A coating appointment is a useful time to decide how much finish improvement you want before protection is applied. Some owners mainly want a clean, well-presented daily driver. Others want suitable correction work to refine visible marks first. Discussing that difference helps define the labor and the expected result.
Make your normal washing routine part of the conversation. Tell the studio whether you wash at home, use a detailer or rely on a car wash. The selected treatment and its maintenance instructions should be understood by whoever cares for the vehicle afterward.
At handover, distinguish the product warranty from the condition of the surface in daily use. Record any required maintenance or inspection terms and keep the product information. Regular care remains part of owning a coated vehicle, especially when the finish is exposed to road grime and outdoor parking.
- Agree on the preparation and correction scope
- List every surface receiving a coating
- Disclose existing film, coatings or repairs
- Confirm the initial curing and washing instructions
- Share care guidance with your regular detailer
- Keep warranty and maintenance requirements together
Preparation is part of the finish
Discuss existing marks, contamination and the finish you want before selecting a coating. Ask which preparation or correction steps are included in your quote, which surfaces will be treated, and what maintenance the selected product requires.
- Review the current surface condition
- Confirm preparation and any correction work
- Agree which surfaces are included
- Get product-specific curing and maintenance instructions
From first conversation to aftercare
Start with a short conversation about your goals and the condition of the vehicle, vessel or space. Confirm the proposed preparation, product, coverage and timing in your quote. Before handover, ask for the care guidance specific to the treatment you choose.
- Share photos and project details
- Review the proposed scope and finish
- Confirm care and follow-up questions
Questions before you book
Does ceramic coating remove scratches?
No. Correction work, where suitable, happens before the coating is applied. Ask the studio to distinguish the preparation included in your package from any additional correction required to reach your preferred finish.
Can coating be used with existing protection film?
Compatibility depends on the film and coating products. Tell the studio what is already installed, including its age and condition. Confirm a product combination and care routine appropriate for those surfaces.
